431 Squadron carries on the tradition established during World War 2, flying operations from November, 1942 through to April 25, 1945 - the last day of operations for Bomber Command during that war. 431 lost 72 aircraft in 2,584 Operational Sorties, with 313 killed, 54 missing and 104 Prisoners of War.
